Why don't you have a potty chart?
    • Classify or give a reason for why you made your observation
    • Write down any questions you have as a result of your observations
    • Purpose a hypothesis for each observation
      • Even better can you purpose one Hypothesis that explains them all (Occam's Razor)->look it up and post

  1. Observations:
    23 stars
    Multiple Colors
Days of the week written on left
    Paper
    Chart
Why are some of the section have no stars?
Do the different colors mean anything?
I made these observations because when I looked at the picture, this is what I saw.
All of these observations can only be made by sight because you can just see it in a picture.
Occam's razor- among completing hypothesis, the one with the least assumptions should be selected.
The potty chart tracks the days of the week and using stars to organize some information.

    1. Observation:
      Has stickers that are stars
Thursday and Saturdays there are no stickers
Monday has the most amount of stickers
There are stickers near the title of the chart
Hypothesis: Richie went to the bathroom in his pants more often on Thursdays and Saturdays.

  2. Many colors
    Made of paper
    23 stars
    Days of week written
    Monday has the most stars
    Chart
Why do some days not have any stars?
What do the different color stars mean?
When i looked at the picture above i made all of these observations.
The only way that any of these observations could have been made is by sight.
Occam's razor- when you complete the hypothesis, the one with the least assumptions should be chosen.
Overall, the Potty chart is used to track the days of the week and something that is unknown.

  3. Observations:
    -23 stars all together
-stars vary in color, red, blue, pink, green, and silver
-days of week written on left
    Questions:
    -Who's Richie?
    -Do the colors mean anything?
-Why are there stars at the top of the page?
-Is it #1 or #2, or both?
-What does it mean if there are no stars in one of the days?
    Hypothesis:
If the stars represent both #1 and #2, then Richie did not go to the bathroom once on Saturday and Thursday.

  4. Observations:
    On paper
    23 stars total
    Stars are multicolored
Days of the week are categories
    Chart
    Monday has the most stars
Thursday and Saturday have the least stars
    Questions:
    Who is Richie?
    What do the stars represent?
    Why keep a chart?
    Why are the stars multicolored?
I made these observations based on what I saw in the picture.
    Hypothesis:
The stars represent how many times Richie successfully went to the bathroom on each day. The differences could be attributed o Richie's eating and drinking routines on certain days.

    23 stars
    5 different color stars
    monday has most stars
    whos richie?
do the different colors mean anything?
i made my observations by looking at the picture.
i made the observation by using my vision because thats what you see when you look at the picture.
Occam's razor- after you finish the hypothesis, the one with no guesses or assumptions should be picked.
The chart is organizing days of the week and how many times Richie goes to the bathroom on those days

    -23 stars altogether
    -multicolored stars
    -days of the week
    -maximum- Monday
    -minimum- thursday & Saturday
    questions-
    -whos Richie?
    -what's a potty chart?
    -what do the stars represent?
    -why keep a chart?
-do different color stars have different meaning?
    -was it just one week?
I made my observations by looking at the picture.
    hypothesis-
the potty chart is to show richies bathroom trips, the stars represent every time richie successfully went to the bathroom in that day.

Why does he have a potty chart?
Do different color stars mean different things?

  8. Observations:
    a chart
    23 stars
    diffrent colors
    diffrent amounts in each row
    monday has the most stars
thusday and friday have 3 stars
I made these observations by looking at at the chart, all the information was on the chart, not all rows have the same amount, certain rows have have none, and one has the most. There are diffrent colored stars. Also some of the rows have the same amount of stars in them.
    Questions:
What do the diffrent colors mean?
    What do the stars represent?
    Why keep a chart?
    Hypothesis:
My hypothesis is that the diffrent colors are symbols for what Richie did in the bathroom. The srars represent the amount of times he made it to the bathroom. Also the chart is to keep thack on how many times he uses the bathroom.
Occam Razor:the maxim that assumptions introduced to explain a thing must not be multiplied beyond necessity

  9. Observations:
    -Monday has the most stars
-Wednesday has the second most stars
-Tuesday and Friday have an equal amount of stars
-Sunday has the second to least amount of stars
-Thursday and Saturday have none/least amount of stars
    -Stars are different colors
-There are more red stars than silver ones
-There are more green stars than blue ones
    Questions:
    -Who is Richie?
-Why does Richie have a chart?
    -How old is Richie?
-Over how long of a period of time is the chart recording information?
By looking/using at the chart, I was able to make my assumptions/observations.
Hypothesis- Each successful trip using the bathroom that Richie completes, there is another star added to the day in which he made the trip. -KM

  10. Observations
A chart of every day of the week
19 stars on all of the days combined
    stars are different colors
some days has a different amount of stars
    monday had the most stars
thursday and Saturday had the least amount of stars
the amount stars decrease as the week goes on
    Questions
    Who is Richie?
what would you use a potty chart for?
    what do the stars represent?
why is the amount of stars different for each day?
    Hypothesis
If Richie consumes different amounts of Food, liquid, and fiber each day, than he will go to the bathroom different amounts every day depending on how much he consumed that day.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Observations:
There are all seven days of the week
In the days of the week section there are 19 multicolored stars
Next to the title "Richie's Potty Chart" there are four more multicolored stars
Overall there are 23 multicolored stars
There are no stars on Thursday and Sunday
    Questions
    Who is Richie?
    What do the stars mean?
What time span are we looking at on the chart?
    Why are the stars multicolored?
Why are there stars next to the title?
    Hypothesis
The stars represent each time Richie successfully went to the bathroom, however if Richie did not have a successful trip a star was not placed (hence why there are no stars on Thursday or Sunday). Richie is just a person who was used to collect data from. The different colors of the stars do not matter and the stars next to the title could have been placed there to encourage Richie to start using the Potty Chart over a certain time span.

    Seven days a week
    23 stars all together
    19 stars during the week
0 stars on Thursday and Saturday
    Monday has the most stars
Thursday and Saturday has the least
Sunday has the second to least amount of stars
    Questions:
    Who is Richie?
    What do the stars represent?
Does the chart represent one week or a month or more?
Do different color stars have different meanings?
I made my observations by looking at the picture.
    Hypothesis:
Each time Richie makes a successful trip to the potty a star is added to the chart on that specific day he made his trip. The chart tracks each week.

  15. observations
there are all 7 days of the week written on the left side
19 stars in the days of the weeks 23 all together.
    different colored stars
each star contains only one color
monday has the most stars (6)
thursday and saturday both have no stars
the paper its on seems to be laminated
    Questions
    WHo's Richie?
    What's a potty chart?
    what do stars represent?
do different colored stars have different meanings?
Why did Mr crane want us to observe a potty chart?
Occam's razor: when you complete a hypothesis, the one with the least assumptions should be chosen.
Hypothesis: Richies Potty chart is a chart to organize the days of the week and unknown information about what happens on each day that's kept track with stars.

tuesday and friday both have three stars
there are 4 stars next to the title
What does the chart keep track of?
Do the stars' color have any significance?
Who is Richie and why does he have a potty chart?
    What is a potty chart?
Do the stars keep track of when Richie goes to the bathroom?
Is the chart the same each week?
Why are there no stars next to thurseday and saturday?
    What do the stickers represent?
    Are stars good or bad?
Hypothesis: Richie's potty chart organizes something Richie does throughout the week most likely when and how often he goes to the bathroom.

  18. (Observations:)
    -organized chart
    -can record data
    -multicolored stars
    -Made of paper
-Stars seem to be decreasing throughout the week
-days of the week is showed
    -23 stars all together
    -days with the most stars=Monday
-days with the least amount of stars = Thursday and Saturday
-days with equal amount of stars= Tuesday and Friday (which are none)
    (Questions)
    Who is Richie?
    Why have a "Potty Chart?"
What do the multicolored stars represent, if they represent something.
Why are there stars next to the title?
Why do some days not contain any stars?
What does a successful bathroom trip mean? If it means he is going to the bathroom.
Would he go #1 or #2 for it to be successful?
Does "Potty Chart" mean anything else?
By viewing this chart I had made a few observations and asked multiple questions on what I have viewed about the "Potty Chart"
    Hypothesis:
I have observed the chart and came up with an opinion. I think the stars represent a successful bathroom trip yet I'm not yet sure if it would be successful if he went #1 or #2. I don't know who Richie is. Also, I don't know why he has a potty chart. Maybe it's a kid or someone's favorite name or athlete for all we know. I also think that different stars may indicate that he went both #1 and #2 but I'm not certain and 'm guessing he didn't go successfully during that time frame if there are no stars. Also I'm guessing the stars are for decoration if they're next to the title and last but not least I've observed that the stars are decreasing throughout the days of the week. Maybe he started off good and got worse.

  19. Observations:
Thursday and Saturday have no stars
    Monday has the most stars
Sunday has stars, but the least amount of them
First half of the week have more stars than the second half
    Who is Richie?
    What is a potty chart?
Why does Monday have so many stars?
Why do Thursday and Saturday have no stars?
    Why are the stars colored?
    What do the stars mean?
    Hypothesis:
Based on my observations, Richie is a small child who is not potty trained. His parent(s) have created a chart to reward him for going to the bathroom; ex. stars

    -chart
    -Monday has the most stars
-Thursday and Saturday have no stars
    -23 stars total
-the number of stars on wednesday and friday are equal
    Questions:
    Who's Richie?
Why is he being charted for going to the Bathroom?
What do the stars represent? What are they for?
Why are there no stars on thursday and saturday?
Is it only for one week, or does it continue in a loop?
    Hypothesis:
-Richie is a toddler (the word potty is used)
    -He is being potty-trained
-The stars represent a trip with success to the bathroom: the different colors could represent either how well his "potty performance" was if he went 1 or 2.
-On thursday and saturday, richie probably didn't use the bathroom correctly, therefore receiving no stars.

  22. observations:
on Monday, teusday, wednesday, friday, and Saturday Richie got stars.
the chart is most likely for potty training
    stars=motivation
    chart is for organizing progress
starts at the top might be for every four stars he gets a prize which is recorded at the top
tuesday and friday both have three stars with the same color
Thursday and Sunday he got no stars
    Questions:
What happens when Richie gets a certain number of stars?
What happens if he receives no stars?
Do the colors of the stars mean anything?
    Hypothesis:
The chart is used to record eat time Riche successfully uses the bathroom. When he does he is given a star to motivate him in becoming potty trained.

  23. Fundamental Questions:
    Who is Richie?
    What is this chart for?
    Why star stickers?
    Are they color coded?
What does the number of stars mean?
    What do their locations mean?
    Observations:
There is a slot for every day of the week
    Min:0 Max:6
    no apparent patterns
    1=1
    1 does not = 2
multicolored stars stickers in slots with the exception of Thursday and Saturday
uses the word "Potty". That's a child's word.
    Is titled "Richie's Potty Chart"
There are four stars at the top next to the title.
    Hypothesis:
This chart is for monitoring Richie's bathroom habits. Each star represents an instance where Richie used the "potty". The colors of the stars are arbitrary. The stars' shapes themselves are arbitrary. Richie is a person who is or is connected to a person who feels it necessary to track his bowel movements.

  24. Observations:
    The chart has seven rows
They represent the days of the weak
Colorful star stickers are in some of the rows
They indicate how many times Richy mad it to the bathroom
    Its during potty training
What do the different colors mean?
Why is there no stars on Thursday and Saturday?
    Hypothesis:
If the chart is representing the days of the week that Richy makes it to the bathroom, then the stickers represent the amount of times he made it each day and the colors are how good he did each time.

  25. Q's:
    Who is Richie?
Do different color stars mean different things?
Is it possible to not go to the bathroom everyday?
Is this chart a span of one week or more?

    Max: 6 stars
    Min: 0 stars
Tues. and Fri. both have 3 stars and Thurs. and Sat. both have none.

    Hypothesis:
Each time Richie successfully goes "potty" he receives a star on that day, having nothing to do with the color of the star considering there is not pattern within the color placement. If he's not successful, he doesn't receive a star for that day.

    ReplyDelete
  26. what do the different color stars mean?
    why were star stickers used?
    who is Richie?
why do some days not have any stars?
the different colored stars could have something to do with how he went to the bathroom.
monday has the most stars this could be because Richie was very excited to start this chart on monday but then throughout the week he started to go less and less.
There is a slot for every day of the week making it a chart.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Observations:

Chart organized by day of the week
    Separate section for every day
Colored star stickers on the chart
    4 different colors
    23 stars
    Most stars on Monday (6)
Least on Thursday and Saturday (0)
No visibly significant pattern between what color stars on what day and how many stars there are

    Questions:
    What does a star mean?
    What is the chart for?
    Are the colors significant?

    Hypothesis:
If Richie goes to the bathroom successfully, then he would get a star on the potty chart on whatever day it is. The color of the star does not have anything to do with the actual chart aside from decoration, and there is no pattern of how many star are on each day.

    Questions:
    Who is Richie?
    What is a potty chart?

  30. Hi... I missed class today due to some things, what did we discuss? But I did the potty chart thing.

    Observations
    Stars = Bathroom visit
    The paper is laminated
    Only goes for one week
For Thursday and Saturday there are no stars
    Stars are different colors
Wednesday and Monday both have drawn on stars
    23 stars in total
Everyday has a different amount of stars
    Questions:
Does each star equal one visit or more?
Why are some stars drawn on?
Why are there four stars near the title?
    Who's Richie?
I made the observations by looking at the chart carefully.
    Hypothesis:
Everytime Richie makes a trip to the bathroom he marks it with a star to keep track of his system.

    Thanks.
