NOT AS EASY AS PIE

Quest   Wednesday 12/20/17

DUE MONDAY  12/18/17 "not as Easy as Pie"

Complete the Parent and Daughter graph demonstrated in class using Excel

Key Terms:
Graphical analysis, Linear Relationship, proportional, Slope, Intercept, Percent error, accuracy, precision, Coefficient of regression

3 SKILLS TAUGHT 3
"GOOD GRAPHING"
Write the equation of a line in slope intercept form.
What is the formula for slope?
What is the formula for the slope of your graph?
What are the units of your slope?
What is the ideal value for this relationship?
What is y-intercept?
What was your y-intercept from your graph?
(4)ANALYSIS (4)
What does the intercept tell you about your lab?  What should your intercept have been? Explain.
What is the formula for % error?
What does the slope of your graph represent?
What was your % error in the lab?
If the error is above ±5 % give a possible reason(s) that agree(s) with the error.
Look at the R2 value, this is known as the coefficient of regression.  It is a number describing how well your points follow a linear relationship.  The closer it is to 1 indicates linearity.
Does the R2 describe the Precision or the Accuracy?
(5)Interpretation (5)
Using the above information write a statement citing evidence about both the precision and accuracy of your lab.  What needs to be done to improve the results in future labs?  Is there a way you can verify this?

  1. What's a parent and daughter graph?

The parent graph should be one of the Basic functions on the chart. The problem is how do we analyze each one of those relationships. We could learn sets of rules for each type, but instead we create a linearized version or “daughter graph”. Why? because we already know all the rules on how to break down a linear function. Once you have GOOD GRAPH that has been linearized you repeat all the same steps you did for “Easy as Pie”.

I hope this helps! Also could you post your question and my response to the BLOG. I am sure if you have questions others will as well...

  2. Hi Mr. Crane
i Was wondering if you have looked at my graph that i shared with you. in class last week you had asked me to share it with you so you could help me with it. could you look it over and see what i did wrong? Ive been working on it today and i cant figure it out.
    thanks!
