DAY 9:
THINGS THAT cont.
- The Mind Map is the external mirror of your own radiant or natural thinking facilitated by a powerful graphic process, which provides the universal key to unlock the dynamic potential of the brain. The five essential characteristics of Mind Mapping:
- The main idea, subject or focus is crystallized in a central image.
- The main themes radiate from the central image as 'branches'.
- The branches comprise a key image or key word drawn or printed on its associated line.
- Topics of lesser importance are represented as 'twigs' of the relevant branch.
- The branches form a connected nodal structure.

USE CLASS EXAMPLES TO CREATE A CHART THAT ORGANIZES THINGS BASED ON OBSERVATIONS.-

Use the same strategy developed in class to determine what a Banana is?
Is a virus a living thing?
What is a duck bill platypus?
- Make Observations
- Create Questions
- Organize information
- Create a summary statement
What's our homework? I'm confused if it's the duck thing or to make a chart to organize the pictures, or something else
ReplyDeleteYes & yes. You should be able to oraganize the pictures to create some meaning.... then use and apply the same strategies to answer one or more of the questions...
ReplyDeleteThe first one gives you the visuals to make the observations the others do not.
DeleteIdk if were supposed to put the animals and the groups on the blog but I forgot my notebook. Anyways I would categorize the animals by which ones can survive in the water, which ones live on land and can only go on land, and which ones can go survive both in the water and on land. The giraffe, the bird, the rabbit, and the snake are only able to go on land. Both of the fish can survive only underwater. The walrus and the swan are known for being able to live on land and in the water.
ReplyDeleteNow about the banana. A banana is a type of fruit and it grows on a tree. It is the shape of a curve. When you eat a banana you have to peel off the skin first. The skin is a thick layer and once you peel it off the banana is inside and its a pale yellow color. Bananas typically come in groups. When you buy them they're green which means they aren't ripe, but after a day or two the bananas should turn yellow and they should be ripe. They may have brown spots on them too, but they're still okay to eat if they're there. I'm still in shock that I could write this much about a banana.
I believe a virus is a living thing because it can spread from one person to another and infect multiple people at a time. If viruses were non-living they would not function, and therefore not have living diseases inside of them.
I had no idea what a duck billed platypus was until now but I'll give it my best shot. So it looks like a duck with fur instead of feathers and it can go underwater. Also its beak is flat and rounded and not pointy. The platypus has a large tail as well that looks like the shape of its beak.
I would put the group of animals into two groups. My first group would be all the animals that could live in water: including the fish, the walrus and the swan. My second group would be all the animals that could live on land: the giraffe, the bird, the rabbit, the walrus, the swan and the snake.
ReplyDeleteA banana is a type of fruit that is curved and that grows on trees in bunches. This fruit is green when not ripe, yellow when ripe and brown when past ripe. The skin of the banana can be peeled and underneath is a pale yellow fruit. This fruit is curved and may have small strings on it.
I think that a virus is a living thing because it can easily go from person to person and infect many people. Like us, it depends on a living thing for survival. Just like we depend on food, water and shelter to survive, a virus depends on a living thing to survive.
A duck billed platypus is an animal that has a long beak and tail. It also has fur and small hands. This animal is able to swim in the water and walk on land.
I would say that there are two groups for the animals. My two groups would be the scaly creatures, being the snake and the two fishes, and the non-scaly creatures, being the walrus, giraffes, bunny, swan, and bird.
ReplyDeleteA banana is a curved fruit that is grown in bunches in tree branches. When it is before ripe, it is green. When it is ripe, it is yellow. When it is past ripe, it is brown. It has the ability to rot, as it is a food. There is a peel protecting the edible fruit on the inside. The inside is pale yellow, and sometimes has strings.
I think that a virus is a living thing because it is able to move and spread on its own, and it is like other bacteria, which are living. It depends on a living thing to survive, multiply, and spread.
A duck billed platypus is an animal that has a long beak and tail. It has some fur, small hands, and feet that are webbed. It is a semi-aquatic animal, being able to swim in the water and walk on land.
I would separate the animals into two groups. Group 1 consists of animals who can fly; unlike Group 2, which consists of animals who cannot fly. Group 1 includes the Kew bird and the swan. Group 2 includes the snake, fish, rabbit, giraffe, and walrus.
ReplyDeleteA banana is a curved, yellow fruit that is divided into three sections and protected by a peel. It is grown in bunches and the ripeness is based off of the color of the peel. Although mistakenly considered not, the banana is a berry and may be called a plantain when used in cooking.
I would classify the animals in to the two groups of , animals with scales(the two fishes and the snake), and others(the ,giraffe, walrus, swan, bunny, and the birds).
ReplyDeleteWhat is a banana?: A banana is a yellow fruit that grows in bunches on trees. It has three parts and a protective later called the peal. It also has small seeds in the middle of it. Because of these seeds, it is classified as a berry.
Is a virus a living thing?:A virus is a living thing because it has similar characteristics of a living thing. They are also a type of bacteria and Bactria is classified as a living thing
What is a duck bill platypus?: A duck bill platypus is an animal with a flattened tail and a bill similar to a duck's. It has dark brown fur and can swim. It is classified as a mammal.
