HW: 11.4.16
Calculate the area of your note card with proper sig figs in scientific notation.
in
- cm^2
- m^2
- Km^2
- mm^2
What do all the answers have in common?
If you could only use one of the above units which one would you choose? Why?{Post to Blog}
Each of the answers have a unit squared as the measurement. The measurement I would use out of the three would be cm^2 because it is most common with how we measure things
ReplyDeleteThe thing that they have in common is the m (m•10^n) is the same in all the scientific notations. For example my m value was 1.560 for all of them. The measurement I would use for the area of the card is cm because the numbers are not to big or small and did not need to be put in scientific notation. For example, my scientific notation for cm^2 was 1.560•10^0 which is the easiest because scientific notation is not needed.
ReplyDeleteThe simularities of the answers were they all were squared, measured in distance (meters) and all had the same base of numbers, just in different values. You could see the base by putting it in scientific notation. Then they all had different exponents. It depends on what I am measuring but usually I would prefer using cm^2 because I am most fimiliar with that unit of measuremnt.
ReplyDeleteMr crane when is the extra credit due? Also, which of the three attached worksheets is the extra credit? (I printed all three just in case)
ReplyDeleteThey all are the area of the notecard displayed in different forms of measurement.
ReplyDeleteThey all equal 154.2 cm^2 and have the same number of sig figs
ReplyDeleteIf I could use one measurement I would use a cm becuase people understand the size of a centimeter and can imagine the number 154.2.
